Join us for an interactive workshop, “So you want to talk about race?”,
led by antiracism expert, Alexis Dawson.
March 29th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm
In preparation for the workshop, we’re asking Wilkinson families to fill out a very brief survey to share their experiences with racism in schools, discussing race with their school-aged children, and their understanding of anti-racist programming in TDSB. We want to hear from as many families as possible, whether or not you’re able to attend. Here’s the link to the pre-workshop survey.
The meeting Zoom link will be distributed in our email newsletter on Monday, March 28th (or email us).
This 90-minute workshop will explore:
- Race and racism and systemic oppression
- Unpacking unconscious bias
- Raising antiracist children (and how to talk to your kids about race)
- School and neighbourhood data analysis
- What parents/caregivers and the Parent Council can do to confront racism
Alexis Dawson is an antiracism trainer, public education advocate and former Toronto District School Board trustee. She was the 2019 recipient of the City of Toronto’s Access, Equity and Human Rights William P.
