Welcome back everyone—we hope your summer was excellent!
The Wilkinson School Council is a group of parents, caregivers, and teachers who work together all year to support our school and create community for us all in this big city. One of our most vital mandates is to provide funding and support for school programs and initiatives. Some examples include ukulele lessons, anti-racism and anti-bullying initiatives, arts performances, the forest of reading program, sports equipment, and technology updates. We also organize events that bring everyone together and increase connection between our kids and their families throughout the school year.
Our council relies on parent and guardian members to keep running. We especially welcome new volunteers as many of our main organizers have graduated out. Without support, we may not be able to run some of the events we have planned for Wilkinson students.
Trust us, it’s worth your time to get involved. Volunteering with Wilkinson’s community council is a great way to learn about what goes on in the school every day, meet other parents and guardians, and have a say in how our group supports the students at Wilkinson.
If you’re interested in learning more, we highly recommend attending our first meeting of the school year will be on Monday, September 16. It’s in the school library from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, and a virtual option is available. If you would like to attend virtually, please email Elizabeth.Albrecht-Bisset@tdsb.on.ca before 4:00 pm on the day of the meeting for the link.
Know that you are also welcome to volunteer at any time in the school year and don’t have to be on the council to participate. The more people we have the more we can do for our kids!
