Looking to get involved but aren’t sure how to do it?
No matter how much time you have to spare, or what skills you have to offer, we have opportunities for you to help enrich the student experience at Wilkinson.
Community building, fundraising, and curriculum enriching events and activities are held at Wilkinson all year long (when health and safety allows) thanks to a large number of committees and volunteers.
Our committees are always looking for new members and the time commitment required varies based on the activities involved. Descriptions of our current committees can be found here. Below, we’re highlighting some committees that are newly formed or looking for new members.
Do you have a great idea for a fundraiser? We’d love to hear it! Please use this Event Proposal Form to tell us about your creative and inclusive ideas. The form is also available on our Forms and Letters page.
If you’d like to volunteer for a specific event or activity, look out for emails advertising a call for volunteers or simply send us a note when you see something you’d like to help with.
Still thinking of joining the Parent Council? It’s not too late. Simply complete and submit this nomination form or attend one of our meetings and let us know. More information can be found on the nomination form or on our Council page.
We sincerely appreciate your time, energy, and talent!
Anti-Racism and Equity Committee
2021/2022 marks the first year of Wilkinson’s Anti-Racism and Equity (ARE) parent/guardian committee. Our committee is dedicated to the goal of ensuring that every child at Wilkinson feels that they matter and are seen. We will be endeavouring to connect and create relationships with the entire Wilkinson community so that everyone’s voice can be heard and respected.
Our project ideas for this upcoming year include (but are not limited to) fundraising for Anti-Racism workshops/speakers, coordinating the enhancement of the school library to include anti-racism and equity books, facilitating connections with more parents from racialized families in our community, and creating and supporting the Council’s inclusive school events.
If you’d like to join us, please email Wilkinsonact@gmail.com
After a short hiatus, the Education Committee is back up and running! Responsibilities include organizing parent information nights, writing grant proposals when necessary (e.g., PRO Grants), and liaising with other committees to provide curriculum connections and opportunities.

Greening and Grounds Committee
This committee addresses environmental issues, works with teachers to incorporate the Learning Garden into the curriculum, supports the Wilkinson community through the greening of our school grounds and education about the environment and environmental issues, and incorporates non-Western ecologies into the school grounds through initiatives like the Indigenous Agriculture project. Find out more about what we’ve been up to on our web page and contact us to join!
Our role is to work with the school and community to distribute information about school and Council events, initiatives, and activities via email, website, social media, and print. We do our best to keep the Wilkinson community informed! Our current committee members have only two more years left at Wilkinson (including this year), so we’re hoping to start training some replacements. Current areas of need include updating our website and social media content and training to take over our email newsletter next year. Please note that Council membership and regular attendance at Council meetings is required. Contact us for more information!
