Do you like helping others?
Do you like helping others AND being active?
Well here’s your chance to do just that!
Wilkinson students in Grades 1 to 6 will be participating in Jump Rope For Heart in order to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Why? Helping people is a positive thing and it feels good! Many people in our community, city and country are affected by heart problems and issues related to strokes and many need our help. Why skipping? It’s a relatively easy, inexpensive and excellent way to keep your heart and lungs healthy!
How Can You Help?
1) By collecting donations from family, friends, coworkers and neighbours using the envelope provided by Mr. Kasaval. On the envelope you’ll find instructions about how to collect the money and record the information that the Heart and Stroke Foundation needs. Donations via envelopes are due to Mr. Kasaval on Friday, May 26th. Please be sure that students are with parents or trusted adults when going door to door.
2) By collecting donations online. Click here to access the Wilkinson fundraising page. Choose “Join School” and answer the questions that follow to set up a fundraising page that you can use to collect donations.
If you have trouble with the link, you can go to www.jumpropeforheart.ca, choose “Donate” and then “Donate To A School” and type “Wilkinson” in the search box. When Wilkinson Junior Public School appears below, choose “View”.
**While students in Kindergarten may not be formally participating in the program, families can use the link above to donate in support of the school.
Prizes: Depending on how many donations students collect, prizes will be awarded for their efforts (which is always fun)! Just remember that as much fun as it is to receive prizes, we’re doing this because we’re very fortunate to be healthy and active. There are people of ALL AGES that need our assistance, including doctors and scientists who need funding for their medical research. Prizes are listed on the envelope and website and are usually distributed towards the end of the school year.
School Goal: $5,000 We managed to come close to this last year and, about 4 or 5 years ago, we raised close to an incredible $11,000.00 as one of the top schools in the city!
